Life, Music, Work

Work hard, play even harder.

My worries for today is that I’ll pass out at work.

I went to Lady Gaga’s concert last night and boy was it amazing. When i went to her concert for the first time about three years ago, I was blown away. Back then she had her first disk out and was at the preflight of her global epidemic. I was fortunate to watch it in a smaller concerthall back home in Vancouver, which means for the ticket price, I was closer to proximity that I would be now. Three years ago I thought it was the most spectacular concert that I’ve been to. Last night she proved me wrong.
Though she played songs I’ve heard the first time in addition to her new tracks, I didn’t feel a bit like a was in a deja vu. Everything was different. New props, new hidden meanings, new dances. Her stage set up was phenomenal. A castle that held the live band and opened up, rearranging into various formations.

I especially loved a part where it lit up into a rainbow spectacle. All I could say to my friend was WOW.

Her performance was undoubtedly perfection. Not only does she serenade the crowd with her vocal talent, but she really knows how to get the crowd involved. Once she says “raise your hand!”, the crowd, and myself, obediently follow. She loves to get close to her fans and wear all the clothing that they toss to her.

There is no way in hell that you would just sit through her concert. Everyone gets so pumped up, it’s hard to resist moving your body to the beat. I felt like I was at a ginormous club/theatrical performance/musical.

I’m so glad my friend made me accompany her. Watching it the second time did not make the experience any less unique.

Off to work now! With a lack of sleep from last night. Haha. Great way to start the week.

Monster.

Swear it All Over Again

i went to my very first and very last Westlife concert a couple days ago. they were on their global farewell tour.

i felt so young and alive again. i was screaming my head off like an elementary school girl again who just had justin beiber pop out of her tv screen, or something. in all seriousness, the concert really was like a time warp for me. many of my elementary school memories vividly flashed by. all their songs reminded me of elementary school dances, where there would be teachers monitoring how ‘close’ you and your dance partner get. i remember saving Westlife’s “Swear it Again” for the boy i liked. not surprisingly it was the song i was looking forward the most to hearing at the concert.

sadly, they didnt play it. at first i thought they were saving the best of the last. when they came out for their encore and performed two other songs, i became concerned. and even after they stepped off the stage i still had high hopes. i thought they would come out for a 2nd encore, blast that song and then that would be the perfect farewell. and ya, i was wrong. so were thousands of hopeful others in the crowd. everyone stayed at least 20mins after the stage was left deserted, only HOPING suddenly they would dim the lights again and surprise us with the song that defines them and the night will be filled with rainbows and stars and unicorns…

didnt happen.

because of that the concert felt very incomplete. i felt their whole farewell was dissatisfying. i needed the song as my closure. i had to resort to youtube and a private singalong to compensate for the emptiness. sadface.

its a bittersweet feeling to see the end of a part of your past. its a reminder and a reminiscence. my favorite of the whole band has to be shane (cutie!) although undeniable mark has the best voice of the group. the blonds, kian and nicky are just as good-looking too, heck the whole groups mighty fine.

i wish them the best of luck and thank them for being a part of my past.
